Evidence and earnings: Specifications are based on desk research. Jon Ofstead’s personal experience with the Anker 25K is identified below; we have not independently bench-tested these products. We may earn commissions from links marked “paid link.” Reader value and environmental benefit guide our coverage, regardless of commissions. Examples and manufacturer claims are labeled. Our standards.

The useful takeaway: Compare usable Wh, compatibility and safety rather than focusing on the largest mAh number.

A little backup power can keep a good day going: a map for the ride home, a train ticket on your screen, or a call when plans change. A compact power bank is a useful companion when you are away from an outlet. Start with a safe pack you already own; if you need a replacement, choose one that fits your phone and your usual day rather than the biggest number on the box.

Anker Nano A1259, 10,000 mAhFor everyday phone charging: Anker lists a built-in USB-C cable, up to 30 W from one output, and a 215 g weight. The integrated cable is a wear point. Multiple devices share the available output; 30 W is not a promise of your phone’s charging speed.Anker Nano on Amazon (paid link)
Nitecore NB10000 Gen4, 10,000 mAhFor a lighter daypack: Nitecore lists 143 g without accessories, 39 Wh, two USB-C ports, and up to 22.5 W from one output.Combined output is 15 W. Its IPX7 rating does not mean you should charge it wet; the manual says to dry it thoroughly before use. Compare the exact Gen4 model and warranty.Nitecore Gen4 on Amazon (paid link)
Anker 25K A1695, 25,000 mAhFor long days and multiple devices: two built-in USB-C cables, up to 100 W from one USB-C connection, and up to 165 W combined across two outputs, according to Anker. At 595 g, it is much heavier than the smaller packs. Maximum combined output changes with the number of devices. More capacity is useful only if you will carry it.Anker 25K on Amazon (paid link)
INIU Pocket Rocket P50, 10,000 mAhFor a compact alternative: INIU lists up to 45 W USB-C output, a detachable USB-C cable, and a 160 ± 10 g weight. Its manufacturer store listed $32.99 on October 10, 2026, separate from Amazon pricing.Multiple outputs share a 15 W total. USB-C input tops out at 20 W, so the 45 W label does not describe recharging speed. Check the model, seller, warranty, and delivered cost.INIU P50 on Amazon (paid link)

From Jon’s field bag: Good Green publisher Jon Ofstead uses the Anker 25K above and likes having the extra power during fire assignments, when heavy map and GPS use drains his phone. That is his personal experience, not a measured runtime test or a claim that the pack is designed for fire exposure. For a short ride or commute, a smaller pack may be the better companion.

Choose the capacity and weight for the day you actually have. Compare the checkout total, seller, return policy, and charging compatibility before buying. Amazon prices and availability can change, so use the product links for current offers. A paid link is not evidence of certification, and these listings do not establish UL certification for an individual pack.

Turn the capacity label into useful charges

Watt-hours help translate the capacity label into something you can picture. In our example, a 10,000 mAh pack rated at 3.7 V stores 37 Wh. If 80% reaches the phone after conversion and charging losses, that leaves 29.6 Wh, roughly two full-battery equivalents for a phone with a 15 Wh battery. Those are illustrative assumptions. Navigation and other phone use can consume energy while it charges, so a day on the move may deliver fewer complete charges.

Choose a connection that makes your day easier. Wired USB-C avoids the alignment and heat considerations of wireless charging; a magnetic pack can be convenient when that matters more. Match the phone’s charging protocol as well as the cable. A 30 W pack label is its capability, not a promise that every connected phone will receive 30 W.

Check the exact model before checkout

Keeping a battery safe is part of keeping it useful. Anker has recalled several other power-bank models, so compare your exact model and serial number with its current recall hub. That does not mean every Anker product has been recalled, and our shortlist does not certify an individual pack. Before a flight, check the airline’s current restrictions and its rules for spare lithium batteries. Sources: live recall hub

Buy identifiable equipment from a seller with a clear return policy, and follow the maker’s recall and disposal instructions. Swollen, damaged, or overheating packs should not stay in use. The reward here is a dependable phone when you need it, rather than a large reduction in household electricity use. A safe, durable pack that travels with you is a better fit than excess capacity left in a drawer.

ONE GOOD NEXT STEP

Keep useful equipment in use

Check the model against current recalls and look after a safe, reliable pack you already have. When replacing it, choose a size you will carry and a seller that can support it. Keeping useful equipment working and recycling it responsibly at the end is a small habit worth sharing.
